We take birthdays for granted, getting through them for our kids, sometimes. The little 9 year old boy who's having a birthday, today, is dying, and may die before Christmas. He wanted a cake with an island and a little shack. I was running a fever and had a gazillion things to do, but God gave me the time and physical strength to pull this one off in about 6 hours, baking and all. I think I'll appreciate my kids' birthdays a little more and celebrate them with a little more emotion from here on. Thank you, Jesus, my kids are healthy this Christmas. |
